The programme will support you to deepen your understanding of the economic system and how it drives migration and displacement, build collective strategies and collaborations for systemic change, and embed economic justice into your goals and campaigns.
It has been co-designed with Migrants Rights Network and Ubuntu Women Shelter, and centres anti-oppression, trauma-informed practice and participatory education.
We’re grateful to Paul Hamlyn Foundation for supporting the design and delivery of this programme.

Support to participate
In recognition of the economic climate many migrants face, we can provide bursaries for travel, participation, childcare and any other accessibility costs that will make taking part in this possible for those who need it.
We are deeply aware of the re-traumatising effects that exploring aspects of economic and migrants justice can have for people who have faced the sharp end of injustice.
While codesigning the programme we worked with experienced practitioners and organisations to ensure that trauma-informed design and facilitation is embedded into the work, and will have avenues of support for those who feel that they need it.
Who you’ll be learning with
The programme will be co-facilitated by Sophie Yates Lu and Samia Dumbuya, who bring deep experience in migrant justice, economic justice, and participatory education.
Sophie Yates Lu (she/they) is a facilitator and organiser who has worked with grassroots groups and communities facing injustice for over 10 years. She works with Decolonising Economics and People’s Economy, focusing on the intersections of economic justice, migrant justice, and racial justice. Sophie moved to the UK as a child, and has mixed Taiwanese and Chinese heritage.
Samia Dumbuya (she/her) is a climate justice educator, researcher, and community organiser working at the intersections of migration, race, and economic justice. She is the founder of the Black Ecofeminist Network UK and The People’s Ark, initiatives that centre community-led and decolonial approaches to resilience. Samia’s work focuses on creating spaces where people with lived experience can build collective analysis and strategies for systemic change rooted in justice and care.
